Mental Health Crisis For Vets

A recent study by the San Francisco Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center and the University of California has discovered that over 40% of soldiers returning from service in Afghanistan and Iraq suffer from some kind of mental health problems or related behavioral problems. That’s a high number and highlights the concerns, laid out in this report from the PsychCentral site, that this problem is growing. Apart from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), the issues include depression and alcohol abuse, and speedy intervention is needed to detect and treat these issues to prevent them developing into chronic (long lasting and persistent) problems.
